What we have been doing at LimeFlight

A productive time for our inflight logistics solution

Phillip BarberSeptember 30, 2021

A positive, forward-thinking mindset has ensured that LimeFlight has continued its journey to support airlines with their inflight logistics needs.

It's been a busy time for us at LimeFlight, we have reached many milestones and made significant progress in our solution and operations. Internally, we have changed the way we work daily, added and overhauled modules, and continued developing our application with new features. However, we are most proud of our external developments with our customers, for whom we have added value faster than ever before by listening to their needs and aligning LimeFlight to best support them in their daily inflight logistics challenges. In this way, the past year has confirmed the way we want to be as a company, the solution we deliver and the relationships we strive for with airlines.

Structural Changes

After more than year of working remotely, we realized the benefits and opportunities this brings and that we like working this way. So, we gave back the keys to the office, and today all our work is done remotely. Working remotely also allows us to build a global team, which is a fantastic opportunity to find talented people from all walks of life who can bring different perspectives to the company.

Relationship Building

We have been more aware than ever of the importance of staying in touch and keeping an open ear to the current needs of all types of airlines. Over the past 18 months, our focus has not been on acquiring new customers but on maintaining our existing relationships. Consequently, we have focused on our clients and their specific needs by working together in the face of challenges of varying complexity. For this reason, we have been meeting with customers over the phone or digitally weekly or more often to ensure ongoing contact. These discussions focus on various topics, but above all, on solving current problems.

In the 100 years of commercial aviation, no inflight logistics solution has been better equipped to meet future challenges of the industry than LimeFlight is today.

New Product Developments

We have used the quiet time to focus our resources on LimeFlight and develop the solution. As a result, we can now offer a revised InventoryManagement and a new RouteOptimization module, as well as numerous additional features for our LoadPlanning and MealPlanning modules.

It was important to develop with a clear direction and to help customers achieve benefits quickly. Therefore, we tested the releases and gathered feedback in a short time. With this approach, we ensured that implementation occurred parallel with development so that customers did not suffer from lengthy waits. In addition, this allowed airlines to get the application up and running quickly and achieve a return on investment from day one, which is beneficial for all parties involved.

InventoryManagement

As a result of our strong customer relationships and open communication for feedback and ideas, we have greatly improved our youngest module. The revised InventoryManagement module now provides more visibility and transparency for the daily operations of inflight logistics. In addition, the module allows airlines to manage their inventory globally to ensure that everything is under control and tracked.

RouteOptimization

We remain committed to improving the efficiency of inflight logistics services. Therefore, last year we worked closely with one of our customers to develop a module that supports airlines uplift and catering planning. The new RouteOptimization module optimizes multi-leg catering by analyzing flight routes and determining the ideal catering schedule to understand what should be done at which station. This module ensures optimal loading and unloading of catering services, which is more efficient and economical.

Looking Forward

We have grown a lot over the past year, both in our solution and how we deliver it. But this time has also taught us many valuable lessons that go beyond LimeFlight's internal borders. Despite some of the most challenging times the industry has ever seen, we have attracted new customers, and interest in our solution has never been greater. In addition, we have found that the demand and need for airlines to control their inflight logistics is more significant than ever, confirming that LimeFlight has been working on the right solution. As the airline industry resumes operations, we at LimeFlight are committed to continuing our journey and incorporating the lessons learned from the past year into our identity.
